Simple, easy and fresh, this salsa fresca (also known as pico de gallo) is easy to make and works as a topping for tacos or to serve with chips.

Dr. Blake’s Top Tip: Use habanero peppers (just a tiny bit) to kick up the spice factor.

  • Yield: 1 Cup

Ingredients

1 jalapeño, seeded and minced

Juice of half a lime

2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

1 large ripe tomato, diced

1 scallion, chopped

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Combine ingredients in a small bowl, season with salt and pepper.  Store refrigerated in an airtight container.
